Els Pirineus Orientals: una zona de pas en el període de transició a l’edat del ferro (1678-1450 ane / 1200-600 BC)

No es coneix cap unitat cultural als Pirineus a l’època protohistòrica, però sí que hi ha hagut un particularisme molt lligat a l’estretor de les valls amb els seus infatigables prats i amb la timidesa dels petits camps conreats. L’ocupació humana es va ubicar especialment als marges i el massís pirinenc va funcionar més com a passadís que com a barrera. En aquest treball no solucionarem les procedències de certes tècniques, matèries o artefactes nous que es documenten en la carena pirinenca, una tasca feixuga i complexa, sinó de l’ús que se’n va fer de les vies tradicionals internacionals –terrestres o marítimes– i que tingueren com a protagonisme els Pirineus. Aquests, més que una barrera, s’han comportat comuna columna vertebral, la qual amb més o menys marge han intervingut dins del possible en la intercomunicació i relació de les poblacions que es varen establir en el període de transició de l’edat del bronze a l’edat del ferro.No cultural unit is known in the Pyrenees during the protohistoric period, but there is one particularity very much related to the narrowness of the valleys with their tireless meadows and with the shyness of small crop fields. Human occupation was situated especially on the margins and the Pyrenees range functioned more as a corridor than as a barrier. Here we do not study the origin of certain new techniques, material or artefacts which are documented on the crest line of the Pyrenees, a slow and complex task, but the use of traditional international routes –land or maritime– in which the Pyrenees played a special role. These, more than a barrier, functioned as a backbone which, within its possibilities, intervened in the inter-communication and relations of the people who settled there in the transition period from the Bronze to the Iron Age
